This is the sixteenth edition of the Naijaloaded Weekly Music Review by @Owosenii.

This week, artists like Mayorkun, YBNL Princess, Falz, May D, make the list for different reasons.

The songs in this review were selected from all the songs released from October 23rd to October 29th. The most impressive songs were picked, categorized and reviewed by the reviewer :

HITS

❖ Love You Tire by Mayorkun ft Mr Eazi : This collaboration comes at the perfect time for Mayorkun. Mr Eazi is a Nigerian but he’s based in Ghana, he’s easily among the top 3 artists in Ghana right now and currently trying to bring back home (Nigeria) his sound since he was controversially omitted from the Ghana Music Awards because of his roots. Back to the music, Mayorkun had some few shaky lines in his last verse on this record but overall, this is sweet music and definitely a hit material which will help develop Mayorkun’s West African market.

❖ Chemistry by Falz and Simi : Falz and Simi released a joint EP, this is a dream come true for most music fans and the duo refused to disappoint. They displayed their usual chemistry on a track they titled ‘Chemistry’ which is also the EP title. They made a masterpiece.

GOOD MUSIC

❖ Afefe by Temmie Ovwasa (YBNL princess) : This is another beauty of a song from the YBNL first lady but the truth is, soul music is not a genre most Nigerians love. Temmie knows this and that is why she always add some indigenous style to her sound. We also have to give a very big Kudos to Olamide for his willingness to invest in this style of music when it’s obviously not the best selling genre in Nigeria. The chances of success for this style of music in Nigeria is very low, ask Chocolate City and Ruby Gyang.

❖ Eziokwu by Charass : Melodious tune from the beginning to the end as he sings about a love interest, Charass is too talented to not be an A list artist in Nigeria.
Fine Face (Freestyle) by L.A.X : Who knew L.A.X could sing this smooth?! This is definitely a very good sound from Rasaki, he should churn out more of this style.

❖ LuvEh by DJ Spicey Ft. Ceeza Milli, Reekado Banks & Skales : Ceeza Milli killed the hook, with dope verses from Skales and Reekado. You can’t have these all star artists on a song and not get good music.
Hustle by May D X Akon X Davido : It’s not every day you get to listen to Davido and Akon on a single track but May D didn’t make most of the opportunity, he should have done better with the concept of the song. Nevertheless, it will still pass as good music.

❖ Hustler’s Feet by ILLBliss Ft. Phyno & Vector : Illbliss and Vector went in on this record. Straight up fire lines from start to finish. Hip-Hop!

POTENTIALS

❖ Show Me Love by Baykon : This is beautiful music on a DJ Coublon beat. This is the kind of songs that gives an upcoming artist a big break in the music industry if well promoted.

❖ De Dance by Geeboyy Ft. Timaya : This is a party starter anyday. Good tune.

❖ Intoxicating by Ferry Bernard Ft. Zippyfresh X Yongpage : This is very promising from Ferry Bernard and the featured artists. Sweet music all the way.

❖ Give Chance by Dboy : This is a well produced feel good laid back tune with a message.

❖ Shana Wole by Papalliano : This is a nice afrobeat song and the very highpoint is the sublime production.

❖ The Other Room by Yetty Gold : This is actually creative from the songstress because she murdered a beat originally meant for Dbanj’s ‘Breaking News’.

So Tragic! Stray Bullets Kill Pregnant Woman, Six Others Injured As Hoodlums Clash In Lagos

A deadly gang led by one Itakun, has shot dead a pregnant woman, identified only as Iya Abdulsalam, while six others sustained gunshot injuries after hoodlums stormed Jebba Street in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State in the past weekend at about 9pm during an attack to members of a factional group at a drinking joint. According to a report by Punch Metro, the hoodlums were said to have shot into the air to announce their presence during which a stray bullet hit Iya Abdulsalam, two siblings – Gbenga and Olaoluwa – and four others. It was learnt that the woman who had visited her husband’s brother in the area when the bullet hit her, other victims, were rushed to a health centre in the community, where she was confirmed dead, while others were said to be responding to treatment. Speaking to a news reporter, an eyewitness, Toba Kamoru, said the incident created panic in the neighbourhood as people scampered to safety, adding that one of the hoodlums was arrested by the police on Friday...
