The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said that their sustained strategic intervention in the efficient supply and distribution petroleum products, has led to a significant reduction in the prices of premium motor spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), also known as cooking gas, nationwide. Spokesman of the corporation, Ndu Ughamadu , in a statement on Sunday, said a national survey by oil and gas forum, NNPC’s weekly TV programme, indicated that in the last few weeks, the price of petrol has fallen steadily from N145 per litre to between N142 and N143 per litre in some stations across the country. On Saturday, September 2, the Nigerian Air Force said it had foiled an attempt by Boko Haram insurgents to destablize the peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Borno. Sadiq Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, disclosed that the Air Force in a joint operation with the army had destroyed insurgents’ hideouts thereby scuttling their plans to attack communities during the festivities. A man identified as Andy has lost his life after he reportedly dived into a dam in Akpegede area of Otukpo, Benue State. It was gathered that Andy was until his demise a staff of the Benue Links Transport Limited. The company is owned by the Benue State government. According to reports, Andy who works at the Otukpo branch of Benue Links, was said to have gone to the dam on August 31st, 2017 in the company of 3 other friends to wash a company car but dived into the water after washing the vehicle. He did not surface till the next day when his lifeless body was seen floating on the dam, a source told our reporter. The body was taken the morgue at Otukpo general hospital, while investigation to uncover the misery that led to the death of the deceased is still ongoing. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has sacked his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi. A statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said Adelusi was relieved of his duty over “dereliction of duty.” The statement, which was announced on the state-owned radio station, did not explain the specific offence committed by Adelusi. The Chinese Government have banned children from attending churches in the country. This is in a bid to tighten their grip on religious activities. The new directive by the Government also prohibits children from attending religious sermons and other related activities across China. This control on churches in the country started several years ago when places of worship were told to remove crosses from their buildings in Zhejiang Province. A researcher for Amnesty International, William Nee, who spoke to MailOnline UK, said, “At this point it’s unclear how widespread the ban on children attending church services are in China, but these alarming reports seem to be coming in from fairly diverse areas throughout the country.” Nee further said that the move reflects the tightening control of religion in “particular Islam and Christianity under the present administration” in the Asian country.
