Dare-devil robbers, weekend, attacked an Ughelli branch of Union Bank, and carted away N25 million after blowing up the bank’s vault with dynamite. It was gathered that the hoodlums, who were dressed in army camouflage, used dynamite and welding tools to break into the ATM inside the bank and the bank’s vault, where a bulk of the cash was kept. An auditor of the bank, who was sent from the Benin regional office for the regular auditing of the bank’s branch, estimated that about N25 million was stolen from the bank. Confirming the incident yesterday, a staff of the bank, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the bank’s manager and some senior staff were arrested and taken to Asaba for questioning in connection with the incident. A Thai sex attacker who brutally assaulted an American backpacker after she fell 150ft down a cliff has been jailed for five years. Hannah Gavios, 23, (pictured) broke her back and lay helpless trapped on rocks while Apai Ruangwong, 28, subjected her to a hours of sexual assault. She was rescued the next morning on September 2 but had lost all feeling in her legs – and is still in hospital in New York having physiotherapy. Twisted Ruangwong was sentenced to ten years earlier this month but that was halved after he pleaded guilty to the obscene behavior and causing serious injury. Miss Gavois’ mother Gwen Gavois – who is currently raising money for her medical care – slammed the sentence. She said ‘Hannah will suffer the consequences of the attack for the rest of her life’. President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was pictured doing the unusual this morning when he was spotted by villagers fetching water on a bicycle in a Kawumu village, Luweero District, of Uganda. The president did this to create awareness on his ‘Operation Wealth Creation’ agenda of drip irrigation for crops. The president who took to his Facebook page this morning to share some of the pictures said: “Today is Day Three of my Operation Wealth Creation drive in Luweero. This morning, I fetched water on my bicycle to demonstrate drip irrigation for coffee and bananas that I have planted on the 24 acres of land recently acquired by government in Kawumu Village, Luweero District. At a recent comedy show in Rivers state, top comedian Gordons mocked former Niger Delta warlord, Asari Dokubo, for hardly saying much since President Buhari came into power. Cracking a joke, Gordons said he met a girl at Hilton Hotel who in a bid to steal his money, asked him to drink much alcohol, as most Niger Delta men are bold and take a lot of alcohol. He replied "Niger Delta boys, we are bold! That is in the days of Goodluck. Since Buhari came into power, Asari has not said a word". The crowd immediately burst into laughter when he said this. On Saturday, October 29th, 11 bodies of dead African migrants washed up on the shores of Janzour, the western suburb of Tripoli and the numbers are on the rise. The municipal council has called on Libyan authorities to deal with the bodies. Municipal member Abdul-Salam Abu Gharsa said they are confused about what to do with the bodies. "The Attorney General has issued an order not to receive any bodies at Tripoli hospitals because morgues there are filled with corpses, and here in Janzour we have no morgues," he said. Same day, several bodies of migrants also washed up on Sabratha beach. The household of the famous traditional ruler, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji is in mourning. Oba Adetunji’s daughter, Princess Mujidat Adejoke Adetunji-Alagbada has died in a car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Vanguard reports. The late princess has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions in Ibadan. A source at the palace told The Punch that the princess died after a taxi she chattered was involved in an accident around the Lagos end of the Lagos-Ibadan Express Road. Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, on patrol from Bama to Pulka, intercepted suspected Boko Haram terrorists’ drugs and other logistics suppliers from Firgi and Zawan axis, of Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. A statement from the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said the suspected Boko Haram terrorists were intercepted at a crossing point, trying to cross into Sambisa forest yesterday. The troops pursued them but were only able to apprehend 35-year-old Kadiri Umate, while others fled into the bush. The patrol team recovered 35 packets of 500ml of Glocose Intravenous infusion (Drip), assorted analgenics and pain killer drugs, clothes, bathroom slippers, insecticides, salt, kolanuts and a bicycle.
